OK, so I'm totally using this gratitude post to talk about Halloween since I haven't blogged about that yet but really, I am grateful for Halloween. Every year we make our own costumes, it is our tradition. For better or worse we spend almost all of October sewing and gluing our costumes together. It is an amazing time where Mike and I get to work on a project together and we both have fun doing. The nights are late but hey, in the end I LOVE IT! This year we started late and were a little too ambitious (we finished 1 1/5 hours after we were supposed to leave).
So this year we did "How to Train Your Dragon"

Mike was Stoick the Vast

I was Astrid

Ezra was Hiccup

Abbi was Toothless

Chloe was Snotlout

This year trick-or-treating was interesting. It was pouring rain when we left (not the liquid sunshine kind of rain they have in Hawaii but the freeze you to your very core kind of rain we have in Utah). So we decided to go to the mall. Well 2 things that made that a bad choice. The rest of Utah County also thought going to the mall was a great idea AND only about 1/3 of the stores were passing out candy. So after 30 min. and 5 pieces of candy each, the kids were begging to go to the playground area. We tried a little longer but there were not having it! So much for my candy stash this year! Anyway, we took them to the playground and let them play for an hour and then we came home and they were too tired to go out anymore. So, we cleaned the house for 3 1/2 hours (part of making your costumes is that the rest of your house SUFFERS!) while the kids played, minus the sugar rush( which was heavenly) and then we all went to bed. FUN HUH!?!
We did have a great time walking through the mall. We had a few people take pictures with Abbi and a lot of people commenting about how they liked that we dressed up as a family. That is our favorite part! We are figuring out if we can keep this going even when the kids get a little older. We shall see!

Wow! This is the coolest idea ever! I love you guys forever for this (as if I didn't already!). Seriously awesome. Good work! I'm gonna make sure Thomas the reluctant dresser uper sees this.
Your costumes are great! Very impressive.
I LOVE the family costume! We aren't nearly organized or creative to pull this one off- well done Wingets!
ps: thanks for the info on your experience with starting school a little "later".
And CONGRATULATIONS! YOu are at sucha cute stage of pregnancy.
Well done! My kids loved that movie. What a fun family. I don't think I could convince Rudy to ever dress up as anything but a doctor in scrubs. :)
